Temp number · Temp SMS
A temp number for your SMS codes.
A temp number from vSMS receives the SMS verification code an app sends when you sign up, and shows it to you on screen. Your own number stays off the app, with no SIM card and no contract.
Temp SMS, on screenThe text with the code appears in vSMS when it arrives. There's no phone to check.
Choose the countryPick where the number is from. Each country carries a delivery rating so you can choose where codes land best.
No code, no chargeIf the SMS doesn't arrive in time, your credits come back automatically, and your next try gets a fresh number.
How it works
A temp SMS in three steps.
1
Pick the app and a country
Choose the app you're signing up for, then a country for the number.
2
Use the temp number
Enter the number on the app's sign-up screen with its country code and ask for the code by SMS.
3
Read the code
The SMS appears in vSMS. If none arrives in time, your credits are refunded.
Good to know
What to expect.
- A temp number is yours for one sign-up window, about eight minutes. It can't receive a later code, so don't use it for two-step sign-in.
- Temp numbers receive texts only: no calls, and you can't send an SMS from one.
- Some apps refuse temporary numbers. If a code doesn't come, try another country rather than the same one again.
- Want a number to keep? The vSMS iPhone app offers a second US or Canadian number for calls and incoming texts.
